About the YMCA
Who We Are
The Unicoi County Family YMCA is a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We have been part of the community since 1925. Members join us because they believe in us and our values, such as caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith.
Our Purpose
The Y plays a crucial role in making support and opportunities accessible, empowering people and communities to learn, grow, and thrive. By focusing on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Y not only nurtures the potential of every youth and teen but also improves the nation’s health and well-being. It provides opportunities for everyone to give back and support their neighbors, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.
Together, We Make a Difference
At the Y, we welcome everyone. When you join the Y, you belong to a community of men, women, and children who strive daily to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure. When you give to the Y, you continue to strengthen our community and move us forward by providing financial assistance for people who need us the most. When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in making a meaningful, enduring impact right in your community. When you advocate for the Y, you join a diverse movement committed to supporting and serving our community through promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
How We Are Funded
YMCA funding is generated from membership and program fees, individual and corporate donors, foundations and grants, and the United Way.
